Virtual Research Center and Applications

IVAPS is one of the pioneering advocates of open innovation model and has built its business architecture on the tenets of such a model. IVAPS Research Lab (IRL), a part of IVAPS, works as an innovation catalyst to incubate Virtual Research Centers (VRC) that operates in close proximity of research and development unit of its business partners. Architected based on IKDIG™ open innovation delivery model, VRC is dedicated unit designed to operate exclusively and take end-to-end responsibility to deliver, monitor and optimize the effectiveness of its applications for an individual business partner.

The research center works as a captive unit capitalizing IVAPS’ strengths by utilizing spectrum of products and/or services to reduce the delivery time for new product innovations. Such an application oriented approach is designed to rapidly solve engineering problems that result in increasing the efficiency, rate and quality of innovation without actually incurring the underlying costs including but not limited to acquisition of infrastructure and research personnel.

It provides applications based on IVAPS' products and services that include conducting 100% customized innovation research, providing prior art search reports for assisting in patentability assessments, drafting patent applications, patent mining to gather technical intelligence, analyzing patent portfolio and solving technical problems. The research center uses proven innovation methodologies to analyze partner’s engineering problems and explore solutions or innovative alternatives from both within and beyond the problem domain.

The VRC applications enable engineers, innovation specialists and domain experts to rapidly, yet systematically circumvent the barriers that traditionally impede closed innovation by eliminating psychological inertia through distilled knowledge gained from mining patent databases and cross- disciplinary scientific content.
