Kanwal Rai (IVAPS) and Prof. Achutha Rao (NTTF) to jointly conduct the semester long course on "Innovative Product Development & TRIZ" at PROFICIENCE, Centre for Continuing Education, IISc Bangalore. "PROFICIENCE was established with the objective of providing a sustained and rigorous continuing education program offering courses on subject of topical interest to scientists and engineers. The courses are organized during evening hours so that working professionals can participate without affecting their normal work. Test and examinations are conducted according to IISc norms."
• Patent database is a rich source of information for tracking technology and also idea generation for problem solving and new product development. IVAPS conducted "Patent Engineering" workshop at EVOMA Business Center, providing an alternative approach to the traditional problem solving techniques using TRIZ.
• Kanwal Rai was invited as a guest faculty to conduct the "Systematic Innovation" subject for students pursuing post graduation degree in product design and engineering at NTTF, Bangalore
• Kanwal Rai as a panelist at "Indo-US IPR Enforcement Seminar & Workshop" held at Chennai (May 5, 2006) presented his views on enforcement of intellectual property rights in software industry in connection with practices of reusability and exports. The seminar-cum-workshop series on IPR enforcement was jointly organized by CII and U.S. Embassy and is the first step towards creating a world class IPR regime in India. The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has decided to appoint an experienced "IPR Attache" at the US Embassy in New Delhi, for an effective implementation & protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the country.
• Kanwal Rai was invited as a guest faculty to conduct the course on "Intellectual Property Rights" for students pursuing graduation degree in fashion design and technology at National Institute of Fashion Technology.
• IVAPS and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOC) jointly authored technical paper and poster presentation on "Applying TRIZ to Patent Valuation" at 5th International Symposium on Fuels and Lubricants (ISFL 2006) held at Hotel Intercontinental Eros, New Delhi. The symposium was organized with the central theme "Fuel & Lubricants: Technological Innovations and Environmental Concerns".
• Kanwal Rai delivered an invited talk on New Product Development (Applying TRIZ) at International Conference Exhibition on "Total Engineering, Analysis & Manufacturing Technologies" held at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
• The paper titled "Stress Busters: Brainstorming Provoking TRIZ Principles" authored by Kanwal Rai was accepted for presentation at "National Seminar on Stress Management" organized by Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University. The paper explores application of TRIZ in resolving issues and organizing thoughts in business management.

• Prof. Achutha Rao (Programme Manager - New Product Design, MSRSAS) and Kanwal Rai (IVAPS) conducted workshop covering subject matter 'New Product Design' and 'Patent Analysis' respectively for research and technology development professionals at Honeywell Technology Solutions Lab (HTSL) a research wing for all four Honeywell lines of businesses - specialty materials, transportation and power, aerospace and automation and control solutions (ACS).
